The Action Figure Museum
How a Geek turned his Obsession into a Career

The Action Figure Museum, Paul's Valley, Oklahoma In a small town located an hour's drive south of Oklahoma City, resides the unanticipated creation inspired by an action-figure collecting geek. Kevin Stark grew up to become a toy designer and artist; and a few years ago helped mold the inception and development of the world's first Action Figure museum.

From Star Wars to Spider-man, from KISS to Freddy Krueger, and from Masters of the Universe to G.I. Joe; The Action Figure Museum is not just an assembly of these figures; but is testament to the art form and tradition that has been a massive influence of pop culture through the last century. And while the sheer range of various figures and cartoon works jump into those who have a taste for Batman, or for those who would prefer a bit of a chuckle at Broom Hilda, the museum is an experience that is clearly one you have to see to believe.

The vision for the Action Figure Museum began in 2000 with direction from toy designer and artist Kevin Stark (who would later become the curator) and managed by Josh Kraft, but was first opened in Paul's Valley, Oklahoma in 2005. Since its launch, the museum has not only received visitors from around the United States, but from across the globe; clearly this small Oklahoman town had touched on something multigenerational and multicultural in its appeal when the concept for the museum was first proposed. And do not think this is just some collection an action figure geek has put on for show - this is an accredited museum, which has won numerous awards over the last few years.

Being the only place of its kind in the world, The Action Figure Museum is not only an enjoyable and informative ride for its visitors, but for its employees and volunteers as well.
